  We came across Fraser Island resort when we hired a putt putt boat and toured the lakes around Metung & Lakes Entrance last Friday (30 September). It was a charming-looking resort and we decided to stop and make some enquiries, and perhaps have a drink if they had a bar/cafe open. After heading for what we thought was the reception we realised the place was deserted, probably off-season or perhaps in between bookings, and we started to head back to our boat. On the way back, we were confronted with an extremely bad-tempered individual who starting ranting about us being on private property. He then told us we'd find our boat floating out towards the middle of the lake. We were alarmed as we knew we had moored it securely. We got towards where we had left the boat and it was indeed un-moored and floating some 500 metres out towards the middle of the lake. Rod had to jump in and swim to retrieve it. All I can say is, lucky he's a strong swimmer! I would advise caution if you're considering booking at this resort - the man there doesn't seem too friendly. :(
